Vegvísir — The Wayfinder
In the old Norse stories, Völund was the greatest craftsman who ever lived — a smith of supernatural skill, called the Prince of Elves.
He was captured. Hamstrung. Imprisoned on a remote island and forced to forge treasures for a king who wanted his gifts but feared his freedom. And yet he endured — working in silence, refining his craft, waiting. When he finally escaped, he flew. What he left behind were objects that outlasted everything.
True skill cannot be enslaved.
It can only be borrowed from the person who holds it.
Völund Watches is built on that idea. Each piece is a Seiko-based modification with an original custom dial — designed from scratch, assembled by hand, built to be worn for decades. No mass production. No catalogue copies. Every watch is a singular object.
We are based in Canada. We work in small batches, ship when pieces are ready, and take no custom orders without a deposit. The craft comes first. The timeline follows the work.
